PAS, Amanah and DAP leaders dispel ‘summoned to palace’ claim

(Malaysiakini) – DAP, PAS and Amanah leaders have dispelled claims that the heads of their parties have been summoned to Istana Negara for an audience with the Yang di- Pertuan Agong.

“We haven’t received any information,” Amanah president Mohamad Sabu told Malaysiakini.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan described the claim as “incorrect” while DAP’s organising secretary Anthony Loke said he was unaware of such an invitation.

Malaysiakini is currently checking with the heads of other political parties.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong had this morning granted an audience to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

This afternoon, the Agong will grant an audience to Gua Musang MP and Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

On Sept 23, Anwar had proclaimed that he had secured “formidable and convincing” majority support to form a new government and oust Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister.

Although he has yet to reveal the list of MPs who support him, a cryptic statement by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that same day lent credence to the claim.

According to Zahid, he had been informed that “many” Umno MPs were supporting Anwar.
