Listen to the King, stop squabbling and support Budget 2021, MPs told

(The Star) – All Members of Parliament must answer the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s call to stop squabbling and focus on the people by supporting Budget 2021.

Alliance For Safe Community chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said that His Majesty’s advice was very appropriate as the Budget is urgently needed to rescue the country.

“I personally believe that His Majesty’s call should be listened to and followed. We can see the King is very concerned about the welfare and well-being of the rakyat,” he said.

Lee added that attention should be given to the ongoing battle against Covid-19 and the economic woes the country currently faces.

“I believe that MPs will … support the Budget in order for it to go through.

“Supporting it doesn’t mean that they cannot voice out opinions and give suggestions on how to improve on it. They can still ask questions while having constructive conversation about it,” Lee said, adding that MPs should show political maturity now.

“All MPs have their own parties and political ideology but that doesn’t mean they cannot work together.

“Seeing that some of the Oppositions are quite responsive in handling this crisis, I believe we can come out with positive results regarding this,” said Lee.
