Thank God it’s Friday and Budget 2021 Day

Then some will criticise Budget 2021 because they think they are smarter than Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, and if they were the Finance Minister instead, they would be able to come out with a far better Budget 2021 that even God Himself would not be able to beat.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Roughly half of the Americans support Donald Trump and the other half support Joe Biden. Roughly half of Malaysians support Perikatan Nasional and the other half support Pakatan Harapan. Roughly half of the 222 Malaysian MPs support Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and the other half are opposed to him.

Roughly half the rural Malay voters support an Islamic party and the other half support a nationalist party. Roughly half of the believers of the Abrahamic faith support Islam and the other half support Christianity. Roughly half the world prays to God and the other half do not pray.

Many people feel they are cleverer than Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul

I suppose this list can go on and on, but the point has been made, and the point is half the people or half the world will go left and the other half will go right. And this will be the same for Budget 2021, which was just presented in Parliament today. Half will say it is a good budget and the other half will say it is a bad budget.

For example, being allowed to withdraw RM500 of your EPF money a month for 12 months is only RM6,000 for the whole year. Some want it to be RM10,000, paid in one lump sum.

Some say it should be 100% of your entire EPF savings. Some say we should not touch one penny of our EPF money because that is our only safety net when we retire — and many people live for another 20 or 30 years (or longer) after they retire (so maybe it is better to die at 60 or on the day you retire rather than live to 80 or 90).

Some will criticise Budget 2021 because it is easy to criticise when it is not your problem and you can make all sorts of ridiculous proposals knowing that you will not need to implement them (like what they did with Pakatan Harapan’s 2018 election manifesto thinking they were not going to win GE14 and hence would not need to deliver those promises).

Many oppose Budget 2021 just because it is a Perikatan budget and not a Pakatan budget

Some will criticise Budget 2021 because it is a Perikatan Nasional budget and if it was a Pakatan Harapan budget they would support it and would sing its praises.

Some will criticise Budget 2021 because Muhyiddin Yassin is the Prime Minister and if Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Najib Tun Razak, Anwar Ibrahim, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Tok Mat, Mukhriz Mahathir, etc., was the Prime Minister instead they will support the budget.

Then some will criticise Budget 2021 because they think they are smarter than Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, and if they were the Finance Minister instead, they would be able to come out with a far better Budget 2021 that even God Himself would not be able to beat.
