Chinese students back down and apologise to Agong


(FMT) – The Universiti Malaya Association of New Youth (Umany) has apologised to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong over a controversial statement which led to the student body’s leaders being investigated.

In a statement, Umany said it have also withdrawn their statement after consulting several constitutional experts.

“We affirm our adherence to the constitutional monarchy system in Malaysia and respect the role of the Agong in the Federal Constitution.

“We would like to apologise to His Majesty and the public for our lack of thorough understanding of the Federal Constitution,” it said.
