Why are the Covid-19 deaths in Malaysia just 300 and not 30,000?

Yes, some say the lockdown is unnecessary. Some say the lockdown is political. Some say the government is doing a very poor job at combating the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. Some even say the death toll figures have been spiked or exaggerated to frighten the people so that the government can use this as an excuse to not dissolve Parliament to make way for a snap GE15.

NO HOLDS BARRED

The UK’s population is 67 million and the Covid-19 deaths are more than 50,000. Malaysia’s population is half of that, but the Covid-19 deaths is not also half of that or 25,000 but slightly over 300.

Why are UK’s Covid-19 deaths as high as 50,000? (BBC said yesterday that unofficially it could actually be 60,000 because some deaths were not reported as Covid-19 deaths but death from “natural” causes).

Whatever it may be, 300 deaths in a population of 32 million is certainly better than 50,000 or 60,000 deaths in a population of 67 million. Or do we want to wait until the death toll reaches 30,000 before the government imposes more drastic measures such as lockdowns?
