Unite to stop ‘pro-liberal, pro-socialist’ PH, Annuar tells PN allies

(FMT) – The current partners in the ruling coalition must remain united to face the 15th general election (GE15) or face the prospect of losing to Pakatan Harapan (PH), warned Annuar Musa.

The Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general said his coalition, Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) must remain united in anticipation of GE15.

In a Facebook post, the federal territories minister said he considered GE15 the “mother of all GEs”.

Annuar warned that a lack of cooperation among the ruling coalition could result in PH taking over Putrajaya again under a “grand opposition coalition”.

He claimed that the “pro-liberal and pro-socialist” PH administration’s attempt to regain control was fuelled by its failure to ratify treaties such as the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and the Rome Statute.

“Malay political parties and the Islamic political movements should always come hand in hand and avoid splitting up,” he said.

Annuar urged all the parties to reinforce their Malay identities while working towards closing the gap between different races.

Components of PN, BN and GPS recently agreed to form a presidential council, comprising the leaders of each party.

The council was formed to act as a platform for government policy discussions and to strengthen cooperation among themselves.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the presidential council would meet often, with the first meeting scheduled for early next year to discuss the state of the economy and the Covid-19 pandemic.
