Who is going to be Umno’s prime minister?
In another 120 days’ time, the government is supposed to collapse, and a new government is supposed to take over. And that new government is going to be an Umno-led government. And Umno says the prime minister will be from Umno. So, who is that prime minister?
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Mohamed Nazri Aziz said, the problems Muafakat Nasional is facing is due to Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s weak leadership. Shahrir Abdul Samad said, there is no point for the Umno ministers to remain in the cabinet unless it can benefit Umno. Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said, all Umno ministers, deputy ministers and GLC chairmen must quit their posts by 1st August 2021.
Then there is the official statement by Umno that they are going solo or as Barisan Nasional (not as Muafakat Nasional or as Perikatan Nasional) to face GE15 and that there will be no deal with Anwar Ibrahim or Pakatan Harapan. However, they will agree to a deal after GE15 once they know how many seats they have won.
What these people do not seem to understand is whoever they may wish to team up with is not the issue. The issue is regarding the way they are doing it. Either they are in or they are out. Now they are both in and out at the same time. And that is what makes Umno look menggelabah or flustered.
The impression is, Umno is divided into the Cabinet Cluster and the Court Cluster. The Court Cluster accuses the Cabinet Cluster of pursuing their personal interests while the Cabinet Cluster accuses the Court Cluster of the same ‘crime’. At the end of the day, both Clusters are spitting into the wind.
Who will Umno’s Prime Minister be after the government collapses on 1st August 2021?
Nazri Aziz said PPBM is nothing without Muhyiddin Yassin. The only thing of value in PPBM is the fact that Muhyiddin is the Prime Minister. Umno is a far better, far older, and far stronger party than PPBM. Without the post of Prime Minister, PPBM would be totally worthless.
Okay, even if that is true, you cannot deny the fact that a worthless, smaller, weaker, etc., party is in charge. Why is PPBM and not Umno the prime minister if Umno is better, older, bigger, stronger, etc., than PPBM? By saying all this, Umno is admitting it is a failure and that it cannot beat a smaller and weaker party than them.
Umno is revealing it is feeling frustrated because a smaller, weaker party is in control while Umno is not. Umno wants to be the boss but it cannot. Hence Umno is sabotaging the government because Umno cannot personally benefit from being in the government.
What about the interest of the country and the rakyat? Umno’s interest is all that matters. All the rest is not important. That is basically what the Umno leaders are saying. Do they realise how bad this sounds?
Umno lost GE14. That is a fact that cannot be denied. And why did Umno lose GE14? Has Umno accepted this reality or are they still in denial? And has Umno corrected these mistakes and overcome their weaknesses before they face GE15? Or is Umno living in denial and are continuing doing the same old thing while expecting different results?
Maybe Pakatan Harapan played dirty in GE14, or they lied about many things, or they made false election promises, or whatever. The fact that Pakatan Harapan did all this and got away with it, while Umno was unable to counter the Pakatan Harapan election strategy, reflects badly on Umno, not reflects badly on Pakatan Harapan.
Whatever it may be, Muhyiddin Yassin is still the Prime Minister
Umno should stop grumbling about Pakatan Harapan’s dirty politics. For example, Pakatan Harapan started playing up the 1MDB issue since 2014. GE14 was in 2018. So Umno had four years to counter this issue. Why did Umno not do that? And the 1MDB issue was one factor why Umno lost GE14.
The GST was another issue. The Pakatan Harapan spin is that the money from the GST was being used to pay for Rosmah Mansor’s lavish lifestyle and for her shopping. None of the Umno leaders came out to defend Najib Razak and Rosman Mansor. Umno threw Najib Razak and Rosman Mansor under the bus. And this cost Umno the election. Then they blame Pakatan Harapan for Umno’s defeat.
Umno should stop whining and should stop playing the victim. Umno made serious mistakes from 2014 to 2018 that cost them the election. And Umno is continuing to make serious mistakes until now.
Najib Tun Razak and Ahmad Zahid Hamidi sent a letter to the Agong in October last year supporting Anwar Ibrahim for prime minister. The letter was drafted by PKR’s Saifuddin Nasution and was delivered by hand to the Agong by Anwar.
Umno needs to explain that instead of blaming Muhyiddin Yassin for Umno’s problems.
Najib and Zahid need to explain their October 2020 letter to the Agong supporting Anwar for PM
Umno says there will be no deal with Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Harapan before GE15, but they will agree to a deal after GE15.
Umno needs to explain that instead of blaming Muhyiddin Yassin for Umno’s problems.
Umno says they will leave the government on 1st August 2021, another 120 days from now, which means the government is going to collapse in another 120 days’ time. So, what is going to happen in another 120 days? Will parliament be dissolved and a snap GE15 be held?
Umno needs to explain that instead of blaming Muhyiddin Yassin for Umno’s problems.
Whatever it may be, whatever may happen another 120 days from now, who is Umno’s candidate for prime minister? In another 120 days’ time, the government is supposed to collapse, and a new government is supposed to take over. And that new government is going to be an Umno-led government. And Umno says the prime minister will be from Umno. So, who is that prime minister?
