Gag order against Lokman Noor Adam secured by 1MDB lawyer extended to June 3

Lokman also alleged that Rosli then used the RM1.7 billion fees that he allegedly received to give a RM500 million kickback to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

(The Edge Markets) – The interim injunction order stopping former UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Lokman Noor Adam from issuing defamatory statements against 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) lawyer Rosli Dahlan was today extended to June 3.

The order, issued in connection with a RM50 million defamation suit filed by Rosli against Lokman in the High Court, was initially granted by Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Arief Emran Ariffin on April 5.

Today, the court was informed by Lokman’s lawyers, Fakhrul Redha and Aiman Ariff from Messrs Azwan, Aiman, Forsberg & Co, that their client had already deleted the two videos allegedly contained defamatory statements against Rosli.

They further sought an extension of time to file their statement of defence and affidavit in reply to the suit, and Rosli’s lawyers Datuk DP Naban and Joseph Wong agreed to the request, according to a statement issued to theedgemarkets.com.

Rosli had filed the defamation suit against Lokman over the latter’s statements accusing the lawyer of receiving 10% of the RM17 billion settlement by Goldman Sachs to the Malaysian government in the 1MDB matter as legal fees.

Lokman also alleged that Rosli then used the RM1.7 billion fees that he allegedly received to give a RM500 million kickback to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Rosli denied the allegations.

The lawyer has issued a letter of demand against Lokman seeking an apology and removal of Lokman’s posts.

Rosli also issued several letters of demand against Kuang assemblyman Sallehuddin Amiruddin and his assistant Mohd Hanizam Yunus along with anti-corruption watchdog Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4 Center) for allegedly making defamatory statements against him.
