Bukit Aman has always served the PM and the politicians since Mahathir’s time
Sudahlah! Bukit Aman has always been the anjing of the prime minister and of the government of the day. When Pakatan Harapan took over in May 2018, did they not also do the same? Did Pakatan Harapan not also “interfere” in the appointment of the IGP, AG, Special Branch Director, Chief Justice, MACC Chief Commissioner, judges, Bank Negara Governor, PNB Chairperson, and many more?
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Former IGPs Tun Hanif Omar and Musa Hassan have come out to add salt to the wounds, which former IGP Abdul Hamid Bador has opened. I am sure if the reporters were to go and interview other former IGPs — such as Mohamad Fuzi Harun, Khalid Abu Bakar, Ismail Omar, Norian Mai, and Abdul Rahim Mohd Noor — they, too, would have their stories to tell.
In fact, some of the appointments of these former IGPs did have “political meddling” as well. If not because of this “political meddling”, they would not have been appointed IGPs in the first place.
Before this, the “political meddling” in the police force was not publicised or turned into a political issue — until Hamid Bador went crying to the media in his attempt to gain public sympathy. The image Hamid Bador is trying to create is that he only fears Allah and that he is a man of courage, integrity, honour, and principles.
Yeah, right, and I am still a virgin with five children and six grandchildren.
Was it not Hanif Omar who testified in court in 1999 that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had sent him to see Anwar Ibrahim in his house in Bukit Damansara regarding his sexual activities?
Yes, this was revealed in court and Anwar never denied the meeting, which took place not long after he became the Deputy Prime Minister in 1993. (Hanif was the IGP until 15th January 1994, after which Rahim Noor took over until 7th January 1999).
The police had a file on Anwar regarding 12 cases of sodomy. Many people knew about this and it was actually an open secret. And Mahathir wanted Hanif Omar to advice Anwar to stop all his buggering before it becomes a political problem.
Then, in 1997, Anwar made his move to oust Mahathir. On 20th September 1998, Mahathir asked Rahim Noor to detain Anwar, which he did.
Rahim Noor was also Mahathir’s anjing (according to Anwar), just like Hamid Bador
But then Rahim Noor went and beat up Anwar and left him unconscious on the lockup floor until he was discovered the following morning still unconscious. That would mean they would need to detain Anwar a bit longer, until his wounds heal. That was when they changed his detention to that under the Internal Security Act so that they can hold him for at least 60 days without bringing him to court.
But the political pressure to release Anwar was so great they could not keep him under ISA any longer. That was when they decided to use one of the 12 sodomy cases to charge him with as the excuse to not release him.
Anwar was then detained for seven months without bail while he faced trial for abuse of power. The so-called abuse of power that Anwar was charged with involved him ordering the police to cover up his sodomy cases.
The truth was, as what Azmin Ali revealed in court during the trial, it was the Director and Deputy Director of the Special Branch who went to Anwar’s office to see him. Azmin told them that Anwar was busy and was not free to see them, but they insisted. So Azmin allowed them to meet Anwar.
Azmin Ali told the court it was the Special Branch that asked to meet Anwar, and not the other way around
These Special Branch officers then told the court that Anwar had asked them to see him, which was a lie, and that Anwar had asked them to help cover up the sodomy case involving Azizan Abu Bakar, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s driver.
That was also a lie. It was the Special Branch who asked Anwar to allow the police to take action against Azizan for the sake of “national security”. Anwar was actually quite reluctant about the whole matter because he would rather it be kept under wraps.
Anwar was eventually convicted on two charges of abuse of power and sodomy and sentenced to 15 years jail in total. The seven months which Anwar spent under remand were not “discounted” — so it was actually in total 15 years and seven months jail.
Nobody, and I repeat, nobody has any doubts until today that the police were used to get rid of Anwar, the man who posed a threat to the Prime Minister. Basically, Bukit Aman made sure that Mahathir remained as Prime Minister and Anwar would not be able to oust him.
Mahathir continued to use the police all through the Reformasi years from 1999 to 2003. The IGPs from 1999 to 2003, Rahim Noor and Norian Mai, served the Prime Minister, not PDRM.
If Pak Lah had not controlled Bukit Aman, he would have been arrested for the Iraq-Oil-for-Food and Libya-Scomi-centrifuge scandals
After that, Bakri Omar and Musa Hassan served Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin.
In fact, the Special Branch Director then, Yusof Rahman, asked Pak Lah to be allowed to retire because he was very unhappy that his daily briefings with the Prime Minister (which were supposed to be “four-eye meetings” or mesyuarat empat mata) could not start until Khairy arrived (so it was mesyuarat enam mata).
Today, everyone is talking in a holier-than-thou tone of voice. They want Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin to be suspended and for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to be held to investigate Hamid Bador’s “revelation” of interference in the police force.
Sikit-sikit RCI. Dulu make so much noise asking for an RCI to be held regarding the RM31.5 billion Bank Negara forex losses. After the RCI was held, and after it was confirmed that Dr Mahathir was behind the Bank Negara forex scandal, instead of arresting him like they promised, they went and appointed him the prime minister or PM7.
The truth is, the Kluster anti-Muhyiddin is exploiting a very disgruntled and sour-grape Hamid Bador and is trying to turn his so-called “explosive revelation” into another “1MDB”. They tried at first with the Covid-19 issue, but that did not seem to work as they had hoped. So now they are using this Hamid Bador issue instead in the hope the government can be brought down. Good luck!
