Umno must not only be defeated; it’s head must be cut off
And that is happening, as predicted. What Perikatan Nasional is facing today is a snake which they beat up but which was left with the head attached. So the orang tua such as Pak Sukiman were correct. A snake must never be left with its head attached even if you have beaten it up and think it is dead. It is not dead until it has no head.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
I grew up in a kampong in Kelang called Bukit Kuda where biawak, snakes, etc., entering the house was a daily affair. So I was raised knowing how to handle creatures from the wild. One thing the orang tua such as Pak Sukiman taught me was it is not enough to beat a snake to death. You need to cut off its head as well or else it might come back to life and patok you. And you need to use buloh, it seems, not kayu (because snakes are supposed to fear buloh).
Anyway, when Pakatan Harapan (a.k.a. DAP, PKR, Amanah), with the help of PPBM (a.k.a. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad) “killed” Umno in May 2018, they knew it was not enough to just kill the “snake”. They needed to also cut off its head.
And that was why the first thing they did was they went for Najib Tun Razak and Ahmad Zahid Hamidi — plus the other Umno warlords — and arrested them and charged them for all sorts of crimes. Some were cited for tax evasion and many quietly paid off the LHDN without any publicity (so it was not in the news).
This is called cutting off the head of the snake.
The reason why they are also going for Rosmah Mansor is because she is also running her own “guerrilla operation” with Lokman Noor Adam as her operator. Hence, the more Lokman talks and attacks the government, the more the head of the snake, Rosmah, needs to be cut off. In short, when Lokman talks — and he sure talks a lot — that is seen as Rosmah talking. So, Rosmah pays for Lokman’s “crimes”.
Anyway, the long and short of it is, it was not enough to defeat Umno in GE14. They needed to also cut off Umno’s head. But Pakatan Harapan was so leceh. They took so long about it and gave time for Najib to launch his BossKu campaign and gain momentum.
So Umno did not die even after getting beaten in May 2018. It was still wriggling on the ground like a wounded snake. (But the Covid-19 pandemic has helped weaken BossKu because Najib can no longer work the ground due to the lockdown).
And in February 2020, when Pakatan Harapan tried to oust their own Prime Minister — and failed — Umno came back to patok them. That is what happens when you do not cut off the head of the snake.
And after patoking Pakatan Harapan in 2020, Umno is now trying to patok Perikatan Nasional. And that is because Muhyiddin Yassin is too soft. There are people around him who had advised him that as long as people like Najib and Zahid are not eliminated for good, they will use Umno to patok Perikatan Nasional.
In fact, that was also why Najib fell. He also did not cut off the head of the snake like he was advised to do so in July 2015. He left Mahathir, Mukhriz, Muhyiddin, Shafie Apdal, etc., with their heads attached. And this resulted in the defeat of the Umno-Barisan Nasional government in GE14. Kena dengar nasihat orang tua macam Pak Sukiman. Kena potong kepala ular.
