Muhyiddin NOT resigning and Anwar NOT taking over as PM9 tomorrow
Hence the next step would be for Muhyiddin’s enemies to kick him out. And that will have to be done via a vote of no confidence in Parliament — as soon as Parliament is again in session, or on 7th September 2021, or during a special sitting of Parliament, whichever comes first.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Hello, people, today is Sunday lah! God said today is a day of rest, so I am resting in front of my TV watching “Sons of Anarchy” for the third time.
So, can you all stop sending me hundreds of messages telling me that Muhyiddin Yassin has resigned as prime minister, and that the announcement will be made tomorrow, and that Anwar Ibrahim will be sworn in as PM9 in the next few days, and all that nonsense!
Muhyiddin Yassin has already invited all political parties in Malaysia to set up a unity government, bipartisan government, kerajaan perpaduan, or whatever you want to call it. And that invitation has been turned down.
Hence the next step would be for Muhyiddin’s enemies to kick him out. And that will have to be done via a vote of no confidence in Parliament — as soon as Parliament is again in session, or on 7th September 2021, or during a special sitting of Parliament, whichever comes first.
In fact, Muhyiddin is ready to face that vote of no confidence, or a vote of confidence (whatever the case may be).
If Muhyiddin wins that vote, then he continues as prime minister until July 2022 when Parliament will be dissolved to make way for GE15.
If Muhyiddin loses that vote, then, according to the Federal Constitution of Malaysia, he will need to have an audience with Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong to inform His Majesty he has lost his majority in Parliament.
Muhyiddin can then either hand over his resignation letter to His Majesty or seek His Majesty’s consent to dissolve Parliament. His Majesty has the prerogative to reject both — Muhyiddin’s resignation as well as his request to dissolve Parliament.
Which one Muhyiddin will do, and which one His Majesty will do, will have to be determined after the vote of no confidence, or the vote of confidence, is won or lost, whatever the case may be.
That’s all that is going to happen. Now leave me alone and let me get back to “Sons of Anarchy”.
