I am back as state MKN chairman, says Selangor MB
(FMT) – Starting tomorrow, Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari will return to chair the state’s National Security Council (MKN) following a meeting that was held by the agency at the federal level this morning.
Speaking at a press conference today, Amirudin said he was contacted following a special MKN meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to discuss the management of the post-flood recovery efforts.
“I was contacted by the (federal) MKN to once again chair the Selangor MKN. I will get to work immediately and wish to request all parties, including the opposition, to coordinate the recovery process from now,” he said.
According to Amirudin, in November he was informed that his post was handed to a federal minister.
Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar took over as state MKN chairman last month
However, it was later clarified by Syahredzan Johan, political secretary to Lim Kit Siang, that the state MKN chairman since November had been Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar, who is also entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister.
“Although not stated, apparently the chairman of the Selangor MKN since November is Noh Omar.”
“Why did the PM change the convention of the state MKN chairman like this?” he asked in a tweet.
Syahredzan also questioned the lack of action by Noh following the flood situation which escalated on Saturday.
“Why didn’t the (then) Selangor MKN chairman call for a state-level MKN meeting?”
