The doctrine of balance of power
Today, that has in a way been achieved. Politicians are no longer stronger than the Raja-Raja Melayu like during the time of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad — and amongst themselves politicians are divided while political parties have become weaker. Politicians are no longer the boss. The people are the boss. Only that the people from both sides of the political divide are too stupid to realise this.

(AFP) – Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev said today that Washington grew “arrogant and self-confident” after the collapse of the Soviet Union, leading to the expansion of the Nato military alliance.
In recent years President Vladimir Putin has grown increasingly insistent that Nato is encroaching close to Russia’s borders, and Moscow last week demanded “legal guarantees” that the US-led alliance will halt its eastward expansion.
“How can one count on equal relations with the United States and the West in such a position?” Gorbachev told state news agency RIA Novosti on the eve of the anniversary of his resignation as the leader of the USSR.
He noted the “triumphant mood in the West, especially in the United States” after the Soviet Union ceased to exist in 1991.
“They grew arrogant and self-confident. They declared victory in the Cold War,” Gorbachev, 90, said. (READ MORE HERE)

The United States can bully the world because there is no balance of power
Yes, that is true. The United States, the self-appointed ‘Policeman of the World’, will invade and occupy any country they like — and anyone who opposes the United State will be called a terrorist. And, against the backdrop of ‘The War on Terror’, the United States will bomb your country and will kill women and children and will destroy schools, hospitals, and mosques.
Killing non-combatants or civilians in other countries is called ‘collateral damage’, while if you do the same on US soil it is called ‘terrorism’. Life in countries ‘not friendly’ to the United States is very cheap. Millions have died in wars waged by the United States to bring down ‘unfriendly’ governments — starting from the Korean War in 1950 to the Vietnam War in 1955, and right till this very day all over the world.
The United States legitimised war in other counties after President Dwight Eisenhower invoked the Domino Theory in a press conference held in Washington on 7th April 1954. Basically it was a war between the capitalist United States and the Communist world — and when the USSR fell in 1991 the ‘New Communism’ was the Muslim world. In fact, Islam is seen as worse than Communism.
By the way, Anwar Ibrahim and PKR are the lackeys (barua) of the United States. That is why the US is donating millions to pro-Pakatan Harapan movements and those opposed to Umno and Barisan Nasional. And the US is proud they played a role in bringing down Najib Tun Razak’s government in May 2018.
Anyway, my point is, the day the world no longer had a balance of power, the world became a more dangerous place. The United States is dominant and there is no USSR to play the role of check and balance or to balance that power.
As they say power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
This is not terrorism but ‘collateral damage’
I was interviewed by BBC back in September 2004 two weeks after I launched Malaysia Today (which was on 13th August 2004). BBC asked me what my aim/objective was and what I hoped to achieve and whether it was to help Barisan Alternatif come to power (at that time PAS and PKR because DAP had left BA in 2001 to go solo).
My reply to BBC was my aim is to make sure that Malaysia has a strong opposition. Whether BA comes to power or not is secondary. Primary is to cut down Umno-Barisan Nasional’s political hegemony and make sure we have a strong opposition to play the role of check and balance, in the spirit of the doctrine of balance of power.
The Umno President must realise that the days of the warlords are gone
No political party should have hegemony or be dominant. There must be some form of balance of power or else we will be bullied by those in power. It is important that globally, as well as domestically, a certain balance of power is achieved and that no one has sole or absolute power.
