MACC’s credibility was already destroyed in 2015

Kerajaan Barisan Nasional gagal. Kerajaan Perikatan Nasional gagal. Kerajaan Pakatan Harapan gagal. MACC gagal. BNM gagal. AGC gagal. PDRM gagal. SB gagal. Perdana Menteri gagal. Menteri Kabinet gagal. Everything in Malaysia gagal. Notice one thing? Semua yang gagal are headed by Malays. Ringkas cerita, Melayu gagal. So better stop all this ‘gagal’ shouting sebab buat malu bangsa Melayu saja.

The anti-government and ‘save the whale’ community are talking about saving the credibility of the Malaysian Anti -Corruption Commission (MACC), and that the Azam Baki playing the stock market issue jeopardises the credibility of the MACC, and so on.

First of all, this Azam Baki playing the stock market issue is an old issue from before GE14. When Pakatan Harapan formed the government, and before Azam Baki was promoted to the head of the MACC, they already knew about the matter because it was declared and was not a secret.

Why did Pakatan Harapan not shout and scream when they were the government from May 2018 to February 2020? It was no secret anyway and they could have done something then. The reason is, it is not an issue, which was why Pakatan Harapan did nothing when they were the government.

Secondly and more importantly, MACC’s credibility was already destroyed way back in 2015 when they joined the conspiracy that included the Special Branch (SB), IGP, Attorney-General (AGC), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), and a number of Umno leaders, to oust Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

In fact, it was the MACC that used Sarawak Report to reveal confidential information regarding the 1MDB matter. The MACC (plus the AGC, PDRM, SB, BNM, etc.) acted in a most clandestine and unprofessional matter in supporting Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the effort to oust the Prime Minister.

Hence, seven years ago back in 2015, the MACC, AGC, PDRM, SB, BNM, and a number of Umno leaders, acted illegally to launch a coup against the Prime Minister and the government.

So, what credibility are they talking about? The MACC, police, AGC, SB, BNM, and many more, have already proven to be mudder-fookers and kok-sookers. None of these government agencies can be trusted. And politicians from both sides of the fence are all the same — a bunch of thieves, crooks, and murderers.

So stop moralising and pretending that you are merely fighting for truth and justice. You are no Mother Teresa. And the more you talk about God, Jesus, or Islam, the bigger fraud you are. An atheist has more principles than you so-called God-fearing religious bigots. If you really want to save the world then ban religion.

Kerajaan Barisan Nasional gagal. Kerajaan Perikatan Nasional gagal. Kerajaan Pakatan Harapan gagal. MACC gagal. BNM gagal. AGC gagal. PDRM gagal. SB gagal. Perdana Menteri gagal. Menteri Kabinet gagal. Everything in Malaysia gagal. Notice one thing? Semua yang gagal are headed by Malays. Ringkas cerita, Melayu gagal. So better stop all this ‘gagal’ shouting sebab buat malu bangsa Melayu saja.

TRANSPARENCY International Malaysia (TI-M) is gravely concerned about the state of the Malaysian Anti -Corruption Commission (MACC) as the events surrounding the law enforcement agency and its top officials continue to unfold.

We refer to the press statements released to the media on Jan 5 and Jan 8 by the chairman and the other members of the Anti-Corruption Advisory Board (ACAB) respectively.

During the press conference on Jan 5, chair of the ACAB, Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang had announced that the board had a discussion with Tan Sri Azam Baki and purportedly cleared him of any wrongdoings or conflict of interest in his ownership of shares.

Then, the Securities Commission had released a separate statement claiming they would probe the matter for possible breaches in the Securities Industry Central Depository Act (SICDA).

Subsequently, the other members of the ACAB have come out to release another statement to distance themselves from Abu Zahar’s statement.

They categorically stated that the Board members in the meeting with the chairman or at any time thereafter did not express such an opinion which Abu Zahar is alleged to have attributed to the ACAB, and they alleged that they had in fact requested for further investigation into the matter.

The question thus arises what actually transpired in those meetings in view of these contradictory statements.

MACC’s credibility at stake

Hence, Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) reiterate calls that an independent investigation to be launched as it involves the integrity and reputation of the MACC and ACAB.

The body must include properly qualified and independent persons to uncover facts of the case and determine if any laws or rules were broken.

Such body should be answerable to and shall report their findings to the Parliamentary Special Committee on Corruption for its review and recommendations. Such an independent investigation will also give Azam the opportunity to defend himself against the allegations levelled against him, and in the process protect the good name of MACC.

Given how events and statements on this matter have been made public, the rakyat deserves to know the truth.

TI-M believes that only prompt action from the Government will help to protect the integrity and reputation of the MACC and our fight against corruption and abuse of power in our country. – Jan 9, 2022.

Muhammad Mohan is the president of Transparency International – Malaysia.
