The reason why Zahid Hamidi turned on Muhyiddin Yassin

How long will the ‘Court Cluster’ tolerate Ismail Sabri Yaakob if their court cases are not ‘settled’? It seems the cases against Zahid Hamidi, Najib Razak and Rosmah Mansor may be ‘solid’ and there may be little chance they will get off. Will this result in the ‘Court Cluster’ also turning on Ismail Sabri?

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

The official reason why Ahmad Zahid Hamidi suddenly turned on Muhyiddin Yassin after supporting him to take over as prime minister on 1st March 2020 was because Parti Pribumi Bersatu had broken their promise(s) to Umno or betrayed Umno, they tell us.

What precisely was promised and what happened instead? This, they do not tell us.

For example, was Umno promised the post of deputy prime minister? And if so, who did Umno nominate as the deputy prime minister? And since Muhyiddin, kononnya, stabbed Umno in the back and did not give Umno the post of deputy prime minister, was this why Zahid did a U-turn and turned on Muhyiddin?

Yes, a lot of stories are being told these last two years since Muhyiddin took over on 1st March 2020. And the stories are about how Umno was the victim in the betrayal committed by Bersatu and/or Muhyiddin.

PAS president Hadi Awang was aware that Zahid Hamidi wanted Muhyiddin to intervene in the court cases

Some say PAS and/or Tok Guru Abdul Hadi Awang also betrayed Umno. That was why PAS was asked to choose between Bersatu and Umno. PAS cannot be friends with both Bersatu and Umno. PAS must choose, either Bersatu or Umno. And any friend of Bersatu is an enemy of Umno.

The truth is PAS/Hadi knew about the meeting between Zahid and Muhyiddin. In fact, many people were aware that Zahid wanted Muhyiddin to intervene in the court case(s) and get the case(s) dropped — like what Pakatan Harapan did when they took over in May 2018 (all the court cases against Pakatan Harapan people were dropped/withdrawn).

Muhyiddin, however, refused. He did not want to intervene or interfere in any of the court cases, and he made it clear he will leave it to the court/judges to decide all the cases.

Today, Malaysiakini reported what many of us have known for the last two years.

In fact, Malaysia Today had reported this almost two years ago back in 2020. While in 2021, Malaysia Now also reported it here:

Revealed: The day Zahid came with his files to meet the new prime minister

That was how Zahid became known as the ‘Court Cluster’ or ‘Kluster Mahkamah’ — because he was in the group facing criminal trials who wanted Muhyiddin to intervene in the court cases and get the cases dropped or withdrawn as one of the terms for supporting him as prime minister or PM8.

This was just like in the case of Pakatan Harapan supporting Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for PM7 in May 2018. One of the terms was Anwar Ibrahim would be granted a pardon and would be freed from jail. The fact that Anwar’s pardon was unconstitutional because it did not follow proper protocol was not an issue to ‘law-abiding’ Pakatan Harapan.
