NFA for Tajuddin but probe continues on Xavier
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation against Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for alleged abuse of power has been classified as “no further action” (NFA).
(FMT) – However, the anti-graft agency’s probe against Kuala Langat MP Dr Xavier Jayakumar for alleged corruption is ongoing.
In a parliamentary reply to Teo Nie Ching (PH-Kulai), law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the MACC had found no elements of wrongdoing against Tajuddin, the former chairman of Prasarana, under the MACC Act.
A news report had said authorities arrested him to assist in investigations linked to the appointment of his son-in-law to Prasarana.
The MACC had, in January 2021, also raided Prasarana’s office in Bangsar.
Tajuddin was removed as its chairman in May 2021, after he was criticised for his handling of a press conference held to address the LRT train accident, which left 213 injured with 60 of them being hospitalised.
The probe against Xavier started in February last year after MACC arrested his associate, MA Tinagaran.
Xavier, who was a former water, land and natural resources minister, quit PKR in 2021 and announced his support for the government led by Muhyiddin Yassin then.
