Nazlan scandal: Judiciary files police reports against Malaysia Today and Malaysia Now
(FMT) – The judiciary has lodged a police report over two news articles implicating Court of Appeal judge Nazlan Mohd Ghazali in the 1MDB and SRC scandal.
In a statement, the office of the chief registrar of the Federal Court said the two articles purportedly affected the course of the administration of criminal justice and the judiciary.
“We refer to news reports over allegations that an appellate judge was involved in the 1MDB and SRC scandal.
“We ask all to be careful not to issue statements that can affect the proceedings of an ongoing case which could adversely affect the administration of criminal justice and the country’s judicial institution,” the statement read.
The office referred to Malaysia Now’s article, “Group calling for Najib’s pardon now wants judge Nazlan arrested’’ and Malaysia Today’s blog post titled, “Shocking Revelation: Najib’s Trial Judge Nazlan’s Conflict-of-Interest Exposed”, both published on Monday, March 14.
It said the case was being probed under Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998, Section 499 of the Penal Code and other relevant laws.
The articles reportedly claim the judge was involved in the 1MDB and SRC scandal.
