The Pakatan govt was an unmitigated disaster of historical proportions

THE MAIN REASON WHY THE 30% MALAY FENCE-SITTERS, WHO GAVE VICTORY TO PH IN PRU14, WILL NOW BE VOTING BN OR ABSTAIN, IS SIMPLY BECAUSE PH BROKE THEIR HEARTS!

UMAR MUKHTAR

Mend them, if you are so smart, Rafizi!

It was not easy for them to change the government they are used to, for better or for worse, in favour of an unknown. But the pain of the 1MDB scandal was just too much for them to bear. So they took the risk!

And what did they get back in return, for their courage to change?

First, they were lied to by PH! Lies in a most formal manner. An official election manifesto that became a joke about being peed on by fake-bible salesmen!

All their fears and pet peeves which were promised to be overcome by PH, like rising fuel prices, tolled highways, PTPTN study loans and the supposed-to-be grave nuisance GST, among many others, were left unattended or mishandled.

Second, the drastic changes in the faces of the new people governing was not properly managed. Hence, the usurping of powers and the pursuing of a hidden agenda by the new masters were the talk of the town. Prime assets were sold, subsidies withdrawn.

It was not handled well, with the necessary sensitivities to solicit trust, and that gave rise to rumours which may have been untrue and baseless.

The point is just that it was not addressed properly. It denoted a lack of mature leadership and unbridled youthful exuberance which was unaware of its political surroundings.

Third, apart from poor management of change, the new regime was not decisive and showed obviously poor unity of leadership by sheer politicking among themselves, showcased to the rakyat!

This was not part of the bargain as far as the fence-sitters were concerned. They rightfully assumed that these major differences have been resolved, as claimed before PRU14.

Fourth, some people inside the coalition committed hara-kiri without having any consideration of their promises to their constituents, by being devious for whatever the reason. And these weak loyalties killed the very force that was held up as saviours of the rakyat.

It was too weak and too fragile to save itself, and yet it was supposed to spearhead reforms. Reforms, my foot! Twenty-two months of zilch!

In the last four years there has not been any positive development. In fact, it may now be in a worse state of affairs.

So who in the right mind would want to depend on PH to take care of them? Would you? BN may still be a worse animal! Wow! What a choice. Thank you, PH.

Over to you, Rafizi. No more muckraking, please. Just convince us, with your fly zipped up, of how our beloved country can be saved by you.

Make it worthwhile for us to go out and vote!
