Time for Ismail to be BN chairman, says Annuar

(FMT) – Umno’s Annuar Musa says the time has come for Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to be appointed the Barisan Nasional chairman.

This comes after Umno agreed to propose Ismail, who is a party vice-president, as its prime ministerial candidate for the 15th general election (GE15).

“As a prime ministerial candidate, Ismail must be given as much space as possible to establish a new administration,” said Annuar, the communications and multimedia minister.

He said Ismail should also be appointed the BN election director for GE15.

Annuar, who is also Ketereh Umno chief, said the decision to propose Ismail as the prime ministerial candidate was proof that Umno was a united party.

“I believe this decision is supported by all Umno members, BN component parties and allies,” he added.

Earlier today, PAS welcomed Umno’s decision to propose Ismail as prime minister candidate for GE15 and hoped his “unity agenda” would be continued.

Party secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said Ismail’s unity agenda had led to stability and a good political climate in the country.
