Anwar Ibrahim proposes new coalition without DAP

Anwar’s own inner circle feels Pakatan Harapan is not going to win GE15, or even GE16. Others, however, say this “declaration of defeat” is meant to lull Umno and Barisan Nasional into a false sense of security. If Umno feels GE15 is going to be a walk in the park, they may dissolve parliament and call for the general election in August, as many are speculating.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Anwar Ibrahim has sent his emissary to meet prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to propose a new political alliance to face GE15.

Anwar promised Ismail that the new alliance will guarantee that he stays on as prime minister for at least two or three years after GE15.

The proposed new alliance will not include Umno or the so-called ‘court cluster’ in Umno but will include those in Umno loyal to the prime minister. Amanah, PAS and PKR will be part of the new alliance. Parti Pribumi Bersatu will not be invited but certain leaders in the party who no longer have confidence in Muhyiddin Yassin will leave Bersatu to join the new alliance. DAP is also not being considered as a member of this new political alliance.

Anwar has assured Ismail that the new grouping of Amanah, PAS, PKR, and some of the leaders from Umno and Bersatu, will give them enough numbers to form the government.

Three days ago, Lokman Noor Adam warned Umno that the party must be very careful in choosing the Umno candidates for GE15 because some of these candidates will cross over if they win the election. These candidates are being planted as Trojan horses and will leave the party and cross over to the other side once they are ensured of the numbers.

Today, Anwar refused to name Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for prime minister and said it is not a priority at this stage. DAP and Amanah are not backing Anwar as the PM10 candidate, so Anwar needs to break away from DAP and Pakatan Harapan if he hopes to become prime minister.

Anwar is trying to entice Ismail into agreeing to the new political grouping with the promise that he will be retained as prime minister for 2-3 years after GE15. It is either another 2-3 years or nothing at all if Ismail rejects this new political alliance.

According to Ismail’s inner circle, the prime minister has totally rejected what he considers a most ridiculous proposal from Anwar. The very fact that Anwar is even suggesting this new political grouping shows how desperate he is.

Anwar’s own inner circle feels Pakatan Harapan is not going to win GE15, or even GE16. Others, however, say this “declaration of defeat” is meant to lull Umno and Barisan Nasional into a false sense of security.
