Najib’s trial: Guan Eng and Tony Pua also involved in suppression of evidence

Appointing the company that serves Goldman Sachs to manage the affairs of 1MDB is not only a clear conflict of interest but a criminal act as well. The purpose of appointing an administrator for 1MDB is to recover as much of 1MDB’s money as possible. And to do that PwC would need to go all out and whack Goldman Sachs. And that would never happen.

DAP’s and Pakatan Harapan’s election promises were to severely punish those who ‘robbed’ 1MDB and to abolish the GST (plus, of course, dozens of other promises, which never happened in the end).

Hence, by hook or by crook, Najib Tun Razak needed to be arrested, put on trial, and found guilty and sentenced. And that was achieved (alongside the abolishment of the GST).

However, obtaining a conviction against Najib was not as easy as they originally thought. They needed to prove a money trail and prove that the buck stopped at Najib’s table, so to speak. In other words, all roads must lead to Rome, or in this case to Seri Perdana.

And this is where it gets very dicey. And even more dicey would be how to insulate the other conspirators — in this case those who are the real criminals behind the money heist. And one very clear conspirator is Goldman Sachs.

If there really was a money heist, it could not have happened without the help or without the collaboration of Goldman Sachs — or at least certain employees or servants of Goldman Sachs. And if certain employees of Goldman Sachs did collaborate with certain people in 1MDB to steal 1MDB’s money, Goldman Sachs would be liable for the wrongdoings of its servants.

Within weeks of Pakatan Harapan taking over the government, this was what Lim Guan Eng announced:

(Reuters, 23 May 2018) – Malaysia’s newly appointed finance minister has asked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to be appointed as auditors for scandal-hit state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), he said on Wednesday.

1MDB is the subject of money laundering investigations in at least six countries, including the United States, Switzerland, and Singapore.

Lim Guan Eng made the announcement in a statement issued after a meeting with some 1MDB directors and the fund’s president, Arul Kanda. (READ MORE HERE

But what many Malaysians do not realise is PwC has been the auditor of the Goldman Sachs Group since 1922. And according to the Goldman Sachs’s 2018 annual report, PwC was paid US$63.1 million in accounting fees for 2018 plus US$9.6 million in audit-related fees and US$2.7 million in tax fees, giving a total of US$75.4 million.

In short, Goldman Sachs has been PwC’s most valued customer for the last 100 years, and in 2018 alone they had earned tens of millions. How much do you think PwC has earned from Goldman Sachs over the last 100 years?

Yes, PwC was more interested in serving Goldman Sachs than in serving the Malaysian government or 1MDB. So why did Pakatan Harapan appoint PwC to administer the affairs of 1MDB? And the person behind this decision was Tony Pua.

PwC knew all along from the beginning what was happening in Goldman Sachs and 1MDB because they were the auditors for Goldman Sachs. And now they were administering 1MDB’s affairs, kononnya, so that they could claim damages from Goldman Sachs for the conspiracy between their people and 1MDB’s people to rob 1MDB.

But they were not interested in making Goldman Sachs pay for the 1MDB disaster (at least not the full amount). They were interested in seeing how they can send Najib to jail and prove that what they said about the Umno-Barisan Nasional government is true (that they stole money from 1MDB and used it for Umno-Barisan Nasional’s political activities).

A lot of evidence that shows the 1MDB disaster was because of the collaboration of certain people in Goldman Sachs was covered up. And a lot of evidence that shows what was done was done behind Najib’s back was also covered up. They had to make it appear like Najib and not Goldman Sachs was the chief conspirator. Only then can they convict Najib and send him to jail.

Who really stole the money and how much was stolen? That is still hazy at this point of time because a lot of the evidence is being suppressed and covered up. What the court is being told is only what they need the court to hear to be able to send Najib to jail. If they reveal more than that in court, then the real thieves would be known. And 1MDB would be able to go after the real thieves and recover far more money than what they are able to recover now.

So, the conflict of interest and criminality involves more than just the trial judge. The finance minister and administrator of 1MDB’s affairs are also in the conspiracy to suppress evidence instead of focusing on recovering 1MDB’s stolen money in full. And Pakatan Harapan is guilty as well of the injustice towards 1MDB. Maybe Tony Pua can tell us more since he is behind this.
