Govt can fall at any time, says Umno youth chief

Umno Youth chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said it is impossible for the present government to wait until the economy improves to hold the 15th General Election (GE15).

(Sinar Daily) – He said economic cycles show inflation is likely to remain up to two years.

“Do we want to wait until inflation is over? No way.

“Instead we must make sure investors are confident with us to revive the economy. We must make sure investors have the confidence to invest. Not only domestic, but also foreign investors,” he told Sinar Harian.

Most businessmen and investors, he said just want political stability. “Not like the government that exists today that can fall at any time,” he added.

He said businessmen and investors have been hard times due to political instability with three prime ministers being sworn in since 2020.

“What guarantee is there that this government will not change?”,” he said, adding that businessmen and investors have urged for GE held to ensure an elected government is sworn in.

“The current government has no mandate from the rakyat and it is a temporary government.”
