Dr M admitted to IJN after testing positive for Covid-19

(FMT) – Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) after he tested positive for Covid-19 today.

In a statement, his office said the 97-year-old former prime minister has been placed under observation for the next few days as advised by IJN’s medical team.

On Dec 16 last year, Mahathir was admitted to IJN for a full medical check-up. He was discharged a week later after he had undergone what the hospital said was “a series of medical investigations”.

On Jan 7, he was admitted to IJN for an elective medical procedure and was discharged six days later.

On Jan 22, he was admitted to the institute’s cardiac care unit and was discharged on Feb 4.

Mahathir was also treated for a chest infection at the institute in 2018, and had undergone treatment and observation in August 2016.
