Dr M: Muhyiddin fired me as Bersatu chairman

“Actually, it is very easy to determine who is the traitor. There is a Latin expression ‘cui bono’, which means who benefits from a situation.”

(The Malaysian Reserve) – GERAKAN Tanah Air (GTA) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad accused Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin of firing him as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman and also several other Bersatu leaders who did not agree with the “Sheraton Move” taken by the former prime minister (PM).

He said Muhyiddin, who is also the Bersatu president, was so afraid of losing the prime ministership that he blocked Parliament from sitting and asked for a state of emergency to be declared.

Dr Mahathir added that Muhyiddin is someone who is still arrogant and only wants to be the PM, even though he has fallen and been insulted by Umno.

“Muhyiddin tried to deny that he was a traitor involved in the ‘Sheraton Move’ and tried to associate the matter with me.

“He fired me and several other Bersatu leaders who did not agree with the move.

“Who will benefit from this, who will become the PM,” he questioned in a statement uploaded through his social media yesterday.

He said this when responding to Muhyiddin’s statement claiming that the movement to take Bersatu out of Pakatan Harapan (PH) in 2020 was initiated by Dr Mahathir.

Muhyiddin claimed that Dr Mahathir made a U-turn at the last minute, when the PH Presidential Council in a meeting on Feb 21, 2020, decided to continue supporting him as PM.

He said the effort to bring out Bersatu was prompted by the actions of several parties in PH who urged Dr Mahathir to step down to make way for PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to be appointed the eighth PM.

Commenting further, Dr Mahathir said PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang who admitted last week that he was the one who initiated the “Sheraton Move” together with Muhyiddin, before the Pagoh MP became the PM candidate.

“Actually, it is very easy to determine who is the traitor. There is a Latin expression ‘cui bono’, which means who benefits from a situation.

“Who became PM through the back door or through the roof? Not me, but Muhyiddin,” he said.
