Dr M is asking for it, cries Anwar over claims of Zahid alliance
“I’ve been patient with Dr M…Once I become PM on the 20th (the day after polling on Nov 19), the first to get a fever would be Dr M.
(FMT) – Anwar Ibrahim has shown exasperation with Dr Mahathir Mohamad for saying he wouldn’t support Pakatan Harapan because of claims that Anwar was forming ties with Umno.
Anwar said the claim about ties with Umno was a false one made by people in Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional,. He demanded that they show proof that negotiations had ever taken place.
“Mahathir said today ‘It is not that I don’t want to support PH, but they are cooperating with Zahid’. This man is asking for it!” Anwar said at a ceramah in Seberang Jaya on Sunday night.
“I’ve been patient with Dr M…Once I become PM on the 20th (the day after polling on Nov 19), the first to get a fever would be Dr M. But of course, I pray for his health,” Anwar said.
The exchange between the two leaders comes amid speculation about secret talks between Anwar and his Umno counterpart, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, to form a government after the general election. Anwar has denied such claims.
Anwar reiterated that he would never support corrupt people, even if it means he loses a chance to be prime minister.
About 2,000 people attended the ceramah which also saw the likes of Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow, Amanah chief Mohamad Sabu and Muda chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman deliver campaign speeches.
