UMNO drops the axe on “Bersatu-friendly” Annuar Musa, two women leaders

FORMER Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa is one of the three UMNO divisional leaders that also comprised two Wanita division chiefs sacked last night (Dec 8) for campaigning against the party during the recently concluded 15th General Election (GE15).

(Focus Malaysia) – Sources confirmed to Free Malaysia Today that the former Ketereh MP is one of the three division heads who were expelled from the party following UMNO’s first back-to-back political bureau and supreme council meetings post GE15.

A vocal critic against the leadership of UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the former communications and multimedia minister had on Nov 21 accused Zahid of “dragging the party into the gutter”, claiming the latter excluded the voice of grassroots when holding discussions with Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders about a possible unity government.

He also pinned BN’s loss in GE15 – the coalition’s worst in history – on Zahid’s shoulders. Annuar further suggested that Malay voters should shun UMNO because of the corruption that is plaguing the leadership, in all likelihood a reference to the dozens of graft charges levelled against Zahid.

The party’s supreme council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi had earlier broke the news of the sacking to the media bur did not disclose the identities of the trio, pointing out that Zahid is serious about meting out disciplinary action against errant members.

“The president will be firm on disciplinary issues, particularly against those who smear the party and leak information on decisions taken by the party’s supreme council,” The Star quoted him as telling the media in the aftermath of the party’s supreme council meeting at Menara Dato’ Onn in Kuala Lumpur.
