Nurul Izzah’s appointment a red flag – Pasir Gudang MP

(Sinar Daily) – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s move to appoint his eldest daughter, Nurul Izzah Anwar as his senior economic and financial adviser is seen as a ‘red flag’ by many parties.

Pasir Gudang member of parliament Hassan Abdul Karim said Anwar needs to think and reconsider his decision to prevent the issue from becoming worse in the future.

“If these is something that needs to be corrected, correct it before it becomes too late and the issue becomes a thorn in your side, we don’t want that to happen,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Nurul Izzah had reportedly been appointed to her role as senior adviser on January 3, but the matter only came to light earlier this week after she did an exclusive interview with a local newspaper.

Hassan said the people had closed an eye when Anwar appointed Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the Deputy Prime Minister, and they closed another eye when Anwar appointed himself as the Finance Minister because they believed in Anwar’s abilities to lead.

“He managed to quell the people’s fears of the role of a Prime Minister and the role of a Finance Minister being held by the same person when he took the appropriate measures to convince the people of his abilities to take care of the nation’s finances and the economy.

“However when he appointed his own daughter as an economic and financial adviser to himself, this has risen a lot of red flags for many parties, many see this as a dangerous move

“There is no problems with Anwar personally, I commend his integrity in financial and economic issues,” he wrote in the post

Hassed added that the nation is need of a transparent administrative system which the Anwar who is also the Tambun member of parliament has championed to his supporters all the time.
