PN support came from youth with low education levels and income, says PH
PH secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail says young voters with a stable income and higher education were more likely to support the coalition led by Anwar Ibrahim.
(MalaysiaNow) – A Pakatan Harapan (PH) minister has said that the youth who voted for Perikatan Nasional (PN) at last year’s general election lacked higher education and a steady income.
Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said this was shown in a study conducted by PH after the Nov 19, 2022 polls.
The PH secretary-general also said that young voters with a stable income and higher education were more likely to support the coalition led by Anwar Ibrahim.
“We found that the higher their education and more stable their income, the more likely they were to vote for us,” he said.
“Meanwhile those with lower education levels and an uncertain income who ride on motorcycles here and there voted for PN.
“This is what the data showed,” Saifuddin added in a speech at the Perak PH convention for 2023 in Sungai Petani on Feb 25.
Saifuddin was one of several PKR leaders who failed to defend their seats at the last general election.
