Don’t accept Pejuang, Bersatu leader tells PN

A Bersatu leader has protested against Pejuang’s application to join Perikatan Nasional (PN), training his guns on Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir.

(FMT) – Bersatu Supreme Council member Faiz Na’aman said he personally objected to Pejuang joining PN as it was a “desperate, opportunistic and unprincipled” move to maintain the party’s political clout after its dismal performance in the recent general election (GE15).

All of Pejuang’s candidates, including Mukhriz and its former chairman, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, lost their deposits in GE15.

In a Facebook post, Faiz said he had messaged Mukhriz before GE15 about Pejuang forming an alliance with PN to face Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan.

Faiz had also attached a screenshot of his conversation with Mukhriz in his posting.

Earlier today, Mukhriz said Pejuang’s central executive council had decided that the party should apply to join the Muhyiddin Yassin-led coalition.

He said the council decided that it was not sufficient for Pejuang to only form an electoral pact with other parties or coalitions to avoid seat clashes.

Meanwhile, Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu said he has yet to receive any information about Pejuang’s application.

“However, the matter will certainly be discussed with the other component parties before a decision is made,” he told FMT.
