Online gambling: MACC targets more than one politician in ongoing probe

Several politicians are currently under investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in connection with allegations of involvement in illegal online gambling activities.

(Sinar Daily) – It is believed that these politicians have been patronising such activities in the country.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that the investigations are ongoing.

“We are currently investigating this matter. There have been recent reports of politicians protecting illegal gambling activities, and we are in the process of gathering information,” said Azam.

Although the names of the politicians involved cannot be disclosed at this time, Azam assured that a thorough investigation is being conducted and any wrongdoing, if proven, will be addressed.

Azam also acknowledged that there are suspicions regarding certain politicians sponsoring prohibited gambling activities, but he refrained from providing specific details due to the potential for manipulation by various parties.
