Zeti says Najib asked her to clear his name in the media
Najib’s request was rejected by Zeti as she had no knowledge of the transactions in the former premier’s bank accounts.
(Sun Daily) -Former Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz today (July 27) at the High Court revealed that she was asked by former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to issue a media statement clearing him of wrongdoings in relation to activities in his bank account.
According to Free Malaysia Today (FMT), Zeti said she rejected Najib’s request as she had no knowledge whatsoever of the transactions in the former premier’s bank accounts.
“He accepted my decision,” Zeti told the High Court during Najib’s 1MDB corruption trial.
“However, after my meeting with the (then) prime minister, a (then) minister also made the same request to me,” Zeti said.
She also rejected the minister’s request and did not name the minister in question.
