PAS mimicking DAP with ‘condition’ to work with Umno, says Khairuddin

He says this incident is reminiscent of when DAP, in 2015, declared that they were only willing to cooperate with ‘friendly PAS leaders’.

(FMT) – Former PAS leader Khairuddin Aman Razali has called out the Islamic party on its hypocrisy over its “condition” to cooperate with Umno.

Yesterday, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the party was ready to work with Umno once again through its Muafakat Nasional (MN) pact, but not with leaders who were deemed willing to team up with DAP.

Khairuddin said this incident was reminiscent of when DAP, in 2015, declared that they were only willing to cooperate with “friendly PAS leaders” who were still aligned with Pakatan Rakyat’s common policy framework despite the breakup of the opposition pact.

“Back then, PAS leaders vehemently criticised DAP. It seems like today they (PAS) are doing the same thing themselves.

Tuan Ibrahim said that the “MN platform” remained an option. He also believed that a majority of Umno’s members were still fond of the MN alliance, which the two parties formalised in 2019, as they wanted Malay political parties to be united.

Khairuddin said the tie up between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan after the 15th general election was made with the approval of Umno’s Supreme Council and not by any individual’s decision.

“Is PAS trying to cause division among Umno leaders, as it did towards the end of the federal government that it was part of before this?” he asked.

Khairuddin added that any condition for a possible cooperation should be set with the sincere intention to unite the people and collaborate for the common good. “It should not be to undermine partners with hidden motives to create division.”
