PH will not agree to a pardon for Najib -Rafizi

(NST) – PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said Pakatan Harapan (PH) will not agree to a pardon for former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, if he is given one.

Rafizi, in an interview with local radio station BFM this morning said if a pardon for Najib was put in place, the matter would be discussed in the Cabinet and unity government secretariat.

“We will discuss in the Cabinet and the unity government.

“It is given that PH will not agree to it (Najib’s pardon), ” he said in The Breakfast Grille, earlier today.

Responding to claims that PH had lost its credentials as a party of reform and one that does not tolerate corruption, Rafizi said it was untrue as they had managed to push for reforms, albeit in bits and pieces.

“It is expected (especially) when our reforms do not meet the expectations or it didn’t go at the pace and extent that some groups of people wanted – then they would say reformation is dead.

“What is important (for PH) is to stay focused. Reform does not happen in one day, it’s built upon step by step one by one and doing so is a delicate balance because we have seen what has happened with PH 1.0 (in 2018).

“If anything, the mistake of PH1.0 is in paying too much attention to the demands of so many noisy groups out there,” he said.
