Wahab having depression, delays meeting with cops, says lawyer

(FMT) – Community communications department (J-Kom) official Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jailani has slipped into depression, according to his lawyer.

Faizal Rahman said this has resulted in his client having to reschedule his appointment with the police.

He said the police were supposed to record Wahab’s statement yesterday over an alleged lewd video featuring him and former J-Kom director-general Agus Yusoff.

However, the appointment had to be cancelled as Wahab has fallen into severe depression, Faizal said.

“Wahab is undergoing treatment after suffering severe depression. His appointment with the police was originally set for (Sunday) but he couldn’t make it due to health reasons.

“I have assured the police that he will give his statement this week,” he told FMT.

Earlier, Berita Harian quoted Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain as saying they were unable to reach Wahab and that his mobile phone has been switched off.

Responding to the claim, Faizal said it was just a misunderstanding as he had always kept in touch with the police.

Previously, Wahab claimed he was pushed by a “Mr H” to record a video call with Agus. He said the video was then doctored and leaked online.

Subsequently, police recorded statements from several individuals, including Agus and another man who is said to be “Mr H”. However, they need Wahab to confirm the man’s identity.
