Report: “At least seven or eight more PN MPs will support Anwar soon,” MP claims

THERE will be at least another seven or eight Perikatan Nasional (PN) MP who will throw their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government.

(Focus Malaysia) – Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal revealed this after five Bersatu MPs had expressed their support for Anwar’s administration in the last three months.

“Initially there were five or six MPs, but now there will be at least seven or eight MPs that will support Anwar.

“For now, I can’t reveal their names yet. Just wait and see, there will be announcements from those (MPs) who support the Madani government. God willing, soon.

“The PN MPs are from several states, all of them are from Malay majority areas.

“Some have contacted me, some have contacted others,” Syed Abu Hussin was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian today (Dec 11).

According to Syed Abu Hussin, due to PN leaders’ reluctance to negotiate with the unity government over constituency allocations, a growing number of PN MPs are now willing to support Anwar.

“Many PN MPs questioned why they had yet to receive constituency allocations. The government told us (PN) to negotiate, but why didn’t they negotiate with the government?”

He added that he was only thinking about the fate of his constituents and the constituencies that were won by PN, with Malays being the majority of the voters.

In the meantime, Syed Abu Hussin said Bersatu has yet to take action against him over his statement made during the Prime Minister’s Question Time (PMQT) at the Dewan Rakyat on Nov 28.

To date, he said, none of the Bersatu or PN leaders have met him to seek an explanation on his statement to support the Prime Minister.

However, he said his contact number has been removed from the PN WhatsApp group.

“First of all, I did not violate party rules. In Bersatu’s constitution, it does not prohibit anyone from giving support to the prime minister.

“What I did, did not violate the party’s constitution. If the party wants to take action, it needs to be taken to the disciplinary committee, which will decide what form of action can be taken. I’m ready for it,” Syed Abu Hussin said.

Syed Abu Hussin became the fifth MP from PN to pledge their support for Anwar’s leadership during the PMQT session at Dewan Rakyat on Nov 28.

Syed Abu Hussin now joins Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman, Gua Musang MP Datuk Mohd Azizi Abu Naim and Jeli MP Zahari Kechik in backing Anwar.
