Takiyuddin now in hot soup for alleged slander against PM

PAS secretary general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan is in hot soup after being accused of slandering Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, according to a police report filed by the Perak Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK).

(Focus Malaysia) – AMK Perak information head Muhammad Izzuddin Hariz Bohari said in a media post yesterday (May 11) that the police report was made because statements made by Takiyuddin during the Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB) by-election campaign were inciting and fostering hatred towards the government’s leadership.

In the statement, which referred to Islamic rules to be practiced in society, Izzuddin said, “Accusing a Muslim of committing a heinous act without clear evidence is haram. Limited punishment is imposed on acts of qazaf in sharia to protect the dignity of individuals and society.”

Qazaf means to wrongfully accuse a Muslim man or Muslim woman of adultery or homosexuality.

While the PAS is using the previous jail sentencing of Anwar on sodomy as the basis of its attacks against the PM, his party members are saying the pardon he received in 2018 makes him a free man from these accusations.
