No notice received, Rashid remains Selat Klang rep
Selangor assembly speaker Lau Weng San says he will review the matter once a notice of Abdul Rashid Asari’s termination by Bersatu is received.
(FMT) – The Selangor state assembly has not received any official notice from Bersatu that Selat Klang assemblyman Abdul Rashid Asari has ceased to be a member of the party, says assembly speaker Lau Weng San.
Lau said Rashid will remain the assemblyman for Selat Klang until an official decision is made on the matter. “When I receive the notice, I will review the matter,” he told FMT.
Earlier, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul was reported to have said that he has not received any notice to vacate the seats of six Bersatu MPs whose party membership were also terminated recently.
The six MPs are Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjong Karang), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), and Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan).
Last Sunday, Bersatu information chief Razali Idris announced that the six MPs, along with Rashid, had ceased to be members of the party after failing to respond to a notice to confirm their loyalty.
