Bersatu Youth files reports against Zahid over misuse of funds, deceiving king
Bersatu Youth alleges Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, as deputy prime minister, plans to use taxpayers’ money to benefit a volunteers’ group under Umno.
(FMT) – Bersatu Youth has filed two police reports against Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, over the Umno president’s proposed use of government funds for his party’s volunteers’ wing and his claim over his role in the current prime minister’s appointment.
Bersatu Youth’s operations secretary, Meor Naqiuddin, accused Zahid of abusing his power when he announced at the recent Umno general assembly that government funds would be allocated to pay allowances for the party’s Skuad Sabil.
Zahid also announced that Skuad Sabil would be incorporated into the civil defence force (APM) and be given allowances whenever they assist the APM in disaster relief and humanitarian work.
Meor said as deputy prime minister, Zahid should not use public funds to benefit a group affiliated with a political party.
“As the minister who oversees the APM, he is using his position to benefit a squad affiliated with his own party,” he told reporters after filing the police report at Dang Wangi police station today.
“This is all our money. It is taxpayers’ money. We want some justification for his use of government funds to provide allowances to Skuad Sabil.”
Meor also said that they might file a complaint with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on this issue.
A second police report was also filed against Zahid who alleged that he secured 30 statutory declarations (SDs) from Barisan Nasional MPs endorsing Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.
Bersatu’s Akmal Zahin Zainal Zahir, who lodged the report, called for authorities to investigate whether there was any attempt to deceive or mislead the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in appointing the prime minister after the 15th general election (GE15) in November 2022.
