Survey finds most youth prefer a multiracial coalition
Malaysian youths are more inclined towards a coalition of parties representing all races where everyone has an equal say, a survey has indicated.
(NST) – The 2024 National Youth Survey conducted by Merdeka Centre revealed that 54 per cent of the 1,605 respondents favoured such a political arrangement.
Meanwhile, 33 per cent supported a Malay-dominant coalition, while only eight per cent favoured a purely Malay coalition without any non-Malay or non-Bumiputera parties.
The respondents were asked to state their preference for a system of governance.
They were given three options, namely a coalition of Malay parties, a coalition involving parties of all races but dominated by a Malay-only party and a coalition involving parties of all races having an equal say in governing.
The youths surveyed came from various racial backgrounds and involved those aged 18 to 30.
