Confident with 153 MPs, Zahid certain Unity Government will not be shaken by Opposition tactics

He made these remarks in response to Anwar’s recent challenge for the Opposition to bring forth a no-confidence motion during the upcoming Dewan Rakyat session next month.

(Sinar Daily) – Perikatan Nasional (PN) will continue to look for ways and approach to destabilise the Unity Government including a motion of no confidence, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

However, he said that today’s Unity Government, backed by 153 Members of Parliament, will remain solid and unshaken despite any efforts by the Opposition.

“I am confident that even if there is a motion of confidence or no confidence, PN will find a way to destabilise the existing government.

“But with the Unity Government having the support of 153 Members of Parliament, which is more than two-thirds or more than 148 MPs, we are confident that the solidarity within this Unity Government will remain strong and unshaken, regardless of what the opposition in PN tries to do,” he told reporters after inaugurating the ‘Rumah Mampu Milik’ Ceremony here yesterday.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi was also present.

Zahid made these remarks in response to Anwar’s recent challenge for the Opposition to bring forth a no-confidence motion during the upcoming Dewan Rakyat session next month.

During the ‘Voice of the People, Voice of Justice: From Reform to Malaysia Madani’ gathering held at Axiata Stadium, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, two days ago, Anwar urged the opposition to follow legal procedures and not simply demand his resignation.

“If you want me to step down, table a no-confidence motion during the Dewan Rakyat session in October,” Anwar had said.
