Congrats on by-election wins, but don’t get cocky, PKR man tells Nur Jazlan
Najwan Halimi says there is no single dominant political party that deserves to puff its chest following the outcome of GE15.
(FMT) – A PKR man has hit back at Umno Supreme Council member Nur Jazlan Mohamed over his latest tirade where he claimed Amanah and PKR were mere “passengers” in the unity government.
Kota Anggerik assemblyman Najwan Halimi maintained that there was no single dominant political party that deserved to puff its chest following the outcome of the 15th general election (GE15) in November 2022.
The Selangor executive councillor pointed out that Barisan Nasional could not even form the Perak and Pahang state governments on its own after GE15.
“Learn to be a mature and courteous politician. We are strong not because we are great at speaking, we are strong because we can unite and put aside our differences while respecting one another.
“Thank God Umno emerged victorious in two by-elections, wresting Nenggiri (from PAS) and defending Mahkota. (But) the people are watching and evaluating.
“Don’t be too cocky. The people do not like politicians who are arrogant,” Najwan said in a post on X.
Earlier today, Nur Jazlan said Umno and DAP were “pilots” in the unity government whereas Amanah and PKR were just passengers, adding that the latter two should not make demands as if they held more authority than they actually do.
The Senate deputy president said the two Pakatan Harapan components often made demands for more seats and positions as if they were dominant parties.
Nur Jazlan, who is a former Pulai MP, again dismissed calls for a unity government in Johor and challenged PH to ask for a unity administration in the Sarawak government too.
However, Najwan said Johor menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi should emulate his counterparts in Selangor and Perak, Amirudin Shari and Saarani Mohamad, respectively.
He cited how Amirudin had appointed an Umno assemblyman in the state executive council though the party only held two seats.
On the other hand, he said Perak PH made way for Saarani to retain the Perak menteri besar’s post despite holding 24 seats in the state assembly, compared with Umno’s eight.
